ABOUT THE HOARDER… I MEAN THE AUTHOR

My name is Christy Stratton.  Hey, y’all.  I’ve been a sitcom writer for the past 17 years, having written for such series as “Modern Family,” “King of the Hill,” “Raising Hope,” “Awkward” and “Hope & Faith,” as well as pilots for MTV, CBS, Comedy Central, TeenNick, Warner Bros. Studios and 20th Century Fox Studios.

A webseries I wrote and directed, “Everyone’s Crazy But Us,” got both Emmy and Webby award nominations and can be seen on Funny Or Die or just click on my YouTube page here.  If you want to read some reviews of it, look no further than here or here or here.

I wrote a piece trying to unify moms and non-moms for PopSugar and guess what it’s right here.  Another thing I wrote, “How To Survive A Christmas Visit With Your Hoarding Mother” was published on Jezebel and it can be read here.

If you’re at all interested in talking podcasts, I’m one of 4 rotating co-hosts of Never Not Funny’s “Rock Solid: The Podcast.”  I got to interview my idol Elliot Easton of the Cars and it can be listened to here.  My first episode is here; our episode about “L” bands and artists is here; and one about misheard lyrics is here.

I can be heard chatting about my teens and tweens on Janet Varney’s terrific Nerdist podcast “The JV Club” — listen here if you’d like.  Or, let’s say you like the Sklar Brothers and their great podcast and/or Jimmy Pardo’s Never Not Funny podcast?  Well, I’m on both of those and they’re here.

I’ve performed the one-woman show that inspired this blog, “Mama, We’re All Crazy Now,” a couple of times at the Comedy Central Stage in Hollywood.  And oh, I’ve done some storytelling, folks; most notably at “UnCabaret” “Sit & Spin” and Greg Behrendt’s “Bring The Rock” at Largo.

Before all this fast living, I was a radio deejay at the University of Florida, where I graduated (with High Honors! You heard me) from the College of Journalism and Communications.  But what I really learned was how to cry over boys and dress up for themed sorority parties.

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  I now live in Encino, California.  I can currently be seen trying to beat my husband to the punch at yelling “scandal!” at each act break of the TV show “Scandal.”

Also, I am your best friend.

    Hey Christy!

I saw you speak at UF in the fall. I’m a senior and a fellow former Growl creative director about to graduate and look for a job. Do you have an email address I could contact you at for advice?

  2. Loved your post on Jezebel today. I can so relate. Glad to see the daughter of a hoarder can turn out successful. I’m still trying to figure that out.
